Agriculture brings this NRI back from Tanzania

Ajeet Konkane, an NRI from Tanzania is now working as a farmer in a small village of India, Narayangaon after leaving his 12 years of job.

Read this blog to get insights into the driving factors behind this decision to take up agriculture in India and leave change his lifestyle completely.

Agriculture: A Sustainable Business

Certainly, agriculture in today’s world can be thought of as the long-term avenue to work with, subject to the fact that it is practiced systematically and sustainability is taken into account.

With the advent of technology in the arena, a lot more possibilities are now open for the farmers to see agriculture as one of the most sustainable and long-lasting profession, and this is the peak time to enter this arena and secure a good place.

It was this realization that made Ajeet enter into the agricultural sector and test his luck.

An interaction with this new farmer gave us the clear picture of what he is targeting or envisioning.

“Agriculture was something that was always in the back of my mind from a long time. It was about two years ago when I started reading about agriculture and farming practices. I got the insights from reading books and watching several video blogs. I was dumbstruck.”

Living the agricultural dream

“This sector has the actual potential and is very sustainable over the time. The only thing that I need to ensure was to take proper measures and steps to gain maximum output. Hence I made my mind to return to India for the same, considering a huge market of agriculture here”, said Ajeet.

He adds, “With the support from LeanAgri team, I have sown Turmeric in my 1 Acre of land and I’m expecting a minimum profit of about INR 2.4 Lac.”

LeanAgri is helping Ajeet in his venture by providing him with high quality, high yield turmeric seeds and a season- long support for his farm. We also provide him with a full-season crop schedule

Farming is a very long-term business. How you position your farm for the decades ahead is key to your success – and your survival.

With the use of advanced technology and solutions, we need to overcome the issue of low productivity as a result of various structural changes and conventional practices like heavy dependence on rainwater for irrigation, small-farm land holdings and lack of access to technology and real-time information.

Given the importance of agriculture in India, both the government and private players are working to improve the efficiency and productivity of Indian agriculture and exploring how Farming as a Service (FaaS) solutions can play a role.

Farming as a Service (FaaS)

FaaS seeks to provide affordable technology solutions for efficient farming.

It converts fixed costs into variable costs for farmers, thus making the techniques more affordable for a majority of small farmers.

LeanAgri provides  you with season-long crop schedules and doorstep delivery of fertilizers across the country at very nominal prices. Our solutions are farm specific, can be customized for any crop, and can be implemented in other regions of the country.

Smart agriculture solutions for farmers and enterprises

  • Farm management solutions: Information sharing, analytics, and precision farming tools
  • Production assistance: On-site resources to aid production, such as equipment rentals
  • Access to markets: Virtual platforms that connect farmers with suppliers of seeds, fertilizers, and other agrochemicals, as well as consumers of their produce.

“Agriculture is our wisest pursuit because it will, in the end, contribute most to real wealth, good morals, and happiness.”

Ajeet was just an example among millions out there who leave their lavish lifestyles to back to the country.

In our view, he is no less than an entrepreneur who has given up everything to come back to his country to serve the noble field of agriculture.

We, at LeanAgri, salute his spirit of entrepreneurship and salute all those who wake up every day to bring about a positive change in their surroundings, however small it may be.
